  • Report a Child’s Absence

At Lordship Lane Primary School, we believe that every day counts in a child’s education. Regular attendance is essential to ensure that your child can achieve their full potential. We understand that children may occasionally be unwell or need time off for unavoidable reasons, and we ask for your cooperation in keeping us informed when this happens.

What to Do if Your Child is Absent

If your child is absent, please notify the school office as early as possible on the first day of absence. You can do this by:

Unexplained absences will be followed up by the school, as safeguarding and attendance are a high priority.

    Time Off During Term Time

We encourage all parents and carers to book medical and dental appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. If this is unavoidable, your child should:

    • Be signed out and back in at the school office before and after the appointment.
    • Return to school promptly after the appointment to minimise lost learning time.

    Holidays During Term Time

Absences during term time for holidays will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. Requests for leave must be submitted in writing to the school office well in advance.

    Factors Considered for Leave Requests

When assessing a request for leave, the Headteacher will consider:

    • The impact on the child’s education and progress.
    • The child’s attendance and punctuality record.
    • The age and stage of the child’s education.
    • The time of year, particularly around key assessments.
    • The specific family circumstances.

We thank you for your cooperation and for prioritising your child’s education. Regular attendance not only supports academic achievement but also helps children develop important habits of responsibility and resilience.
